My Experience

Where I got it: I saw that pink (the last photo above) on Instagram, which took me to their website, and I loved their colours so I ordered four skeins and a colour card just because I wanted them. I hadn’t really planned to use all four colours together, but seeing them together was very exciting.

Needles I used: US 2/2.75 mm

Blocked Gauge I got: 29 sts/46 rows = 4"/10 cm

My Thoughts: As expected since it’s superwash Merino, it’s very soft, definitely soft enough for neck accessories, I think even if you’re pretty sensitive. It’s 2-ply and relatively loosely twisted, so it’s lofty, but also quite draping. If you watch the video, you can see that my swatch is somewhat sheer at the gauge I got (in the middle of their recommended gauge range), and I think I’d keep this gauge for a shawl or scarf, but work with a smaller needle at a tighter gauge for a sweater so I could have more confidence it would keep its shape.

Even though it’s superwash fingering weight yarn, I don’t think this one is ideal for sock knitting because that lovely loose spin and two plies is probably not going to be sturdy enough for long-lasting socks, but I think it would make gorgeous lace.

What I might design with it: The yellow is kind of calling out to me to be a simple ribbed or brioche beanie (inspired by the one worn by Ali Wong in Always be my Maybe — I really need that hat). But I also really love all four colours together and am tempted to do some kind of colour blocked wrap.
