Twisted Purl Stitches Video

My design for the June, 2021 Yarn + Pattern Club with Gauge Dye Works features twisted stitches that create a lovely textured surface design. (Here’s the pattern — Three Seasons Socks.) I think working the right and left purl twist stitches is pretty intuitive once you get used to it, but I know a lot of us could use a video as well as the written description in the pattern.

I know that’s a lot and there was probably one method you want to see again, so to help you out, here are the time stamps for each method shown in the video:

  • Standard Right Purl Twist: 00:00

  • Right Purl Twist with a cable needle: 00:58

  • Right Purl Twist cable needle method, without a cable needle: 02:15

  • Standard Left Purl Twist: 03:35

  • Left Purl Twist with a cable needle: 05:58

  • Left Purl Twist cable needle method, without a cable needle: 07:04

The yarn I’m using in this tutorial is The Blue Brick Dyeworks Organic Killarney Husky Tonal in Foggy Days.

Here are a couple more tutorials that might be helpful as you make your socks:

Andrea is wearing textured gradient socks in shades of beige, green, blue, and grey. The grey stripes are narrower than the coloured ones.
