Low tide at the lagoon
Herons Gathering
There’s something special about walking on the beach when the tide is very low. It’s particularly magical on shallow beaches where you can just walk and walk, almost like you’re heading out into the ocean. I spent a recent weekend morning among herons, gulls, and eagles and of course I want to share what I saw. My obsession with photographing herons has no bounds.
A very bright view of a beach at low tide. The sand is rippling and a group of great blue herons are wading in a shallow tide pool in front of a distant rocky shore.
A great blue heron wading in green water. It’s a comical photo because their legs are crossed as they walk and they look like enormous drumsticks.
Head and long neck view of a great blue heron in profile.
A great blue heron in ocean waves has just caught a big fish that’s speared on their beak and dripping water back into the sea.
A heron is standing perfectly still and is reflected in the green water with trees in the background.
A great blue heron with wings extended is flying low over the ocean.
A group of three herons fishing in shallow ocean water in front of a majestic mountain background. The middle one has a writhing gunnel in their beak.
A bald eagle with a very serious expression soaring in a blue sky.
Bright scene showing ocean waves crashing into shore and gulls and herons gathered along the shoreline.
P.S. Thank you!
